First time dancing with us? Here's everything you need to know before your first class at Anomaly Studios — how to sign up, what to bring, and answers to the questions every new dancer asks.

What to expect

Your first class, step by step.

  • Sign up at least 2 hours before class starts.
  • Arrive 5–10 minutes early to check in. We can't admit anyone more than 15 minutes late — contact us beforehand if you're running behind.
  • Bring a water bottle and comfortable dance shoes. In winter, bring indoor shoes to change into.
  • Lockers are available for your belongings — bring a padlock. We're not responsible for lost items.
  • New students must read and sign our Code of Conduct.

What if I can’t make a class I registered for?

Let us know at least 2 hours in advance so we can cancel your registration and open the spot for someone else.

Where do I buy class packages?

Packages are sold in person — come by about 15 minutes before class and we'll set you up.

Can I drop in?

Drop-ins are always welcome — $18 per hour, payable online or in person.

What if I’m running late?

Let us know at least 1 hour before class. If you'll be more than 30 minutes late, please don't come — catch the next one instead.

Which level should I join?

Try a free Beginners class first. If you have prior experience, ask an instructor for a quick assessment and they'll point you to the right level.

How are classes structured?

Every class starts with a warmup, moves through the basics, and ends with a demo of what we covered — students are welcome to record it.

What if I can’t afford classes?

Our Beginners classes are FREE. We also run free community classes, a volunteer exchange through our Helpers Program, and scholarships. Money should never keep you off the dance floor.
